What is HAYNES® 230-W® Welding Wire?

When it comes to composition, the 230-W® welding wire is primarily made up of nickel, with chromium making up 20.0–24.0%, tungsten at 13.0–15.0%, and molybdenum ranging from 1.0–3.0%. It also contains small amounts of cobalt (≤ 5%), iron (≤ 3%), manganese (0.30–1.00%), silicon (0.25–0.75%), aluminum (0.20–0.50%), and copper (≤ 0.50%), along with trace elements like carbon, lanthanum, and other residuals. ([Haynes International][1]) In its annealed state, the weld metal from 230-W® wire boasts a minimum tensile strength of around 760 MPa (110,000 psi). ([Haynes International][1]) This alloy maintains excellent structural integrity and resists deformation, grain coarsening, or degradation, even when exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.
