What is AWS Class ERCuSi-A MIG & TIG?
The ERCuSi-A filler metal, often known as silicon bronze, has a beautiful balance of strength and workability. Its composition is primarily copper alloyed with around 3% silicon, which gives it its characteristic strength and fluidity, along with smaller amounts of other elements. Mechanically, it offers good tensile strength and impressive ductility, meaning it can flex without cracking. It’s also known for having a lower melting point than pure copper, which makes the welding process smoother and more forgiving for the welder, resulting in clean, strong joints.
